The Nation-Killers Among Us: An Honest Look at Nigeria’s Decline…

The Nation-Killers Among Us: An Honest Look at Nigeria’s Decline…

Nation-killers are not only those in high office; they are ordinary citizens committing small acts of sabotage against the common good. Every stolen fund, falsified document, bribe, lie, and nepotistic favor chips away at the nation’s foundations.

The question is not who destroyed Nigeria, but how often each of us participates in its destruction. Until that question is faced honestly, decline will continue — not as a tragedy imposed on us, but as a consequence authored by us.

Questions we must ask ourselves:Am I a nation-killer? What can possibly go wrong when I wait for Nigeria to change? while refusing to change myself?

In the daytime, when robbers are asleep, they’re awake — shaking down motorists. And at night, when armed robbers operate, they sleep. Worse still, they run away.

They do this for 35 years — tens of thousands of them — and then they retire.

And what do we do? We pay them pensions for life.

Just like the rest of us No one cares about Nigeria 🇳🇬 — and that is a shame. A crying shame.

Lest we point fingers and absolve ourselves of such behavior — which has devastated this country — I put it to you (I hate the phrase)

that every one of us is just as guilty as the police.

What’s the Solution?

None, (Sorry). Too late. Iniquity has become our only motivation.Do not let your “joying” pastor deceive you: we will never be great until we repair our hollowed-out moral core.

Yes, we will be lifted up —but only because we cannot lag too far behind the rest of the world. (ATMs, mobile phones, the internet come to mind.) Not by any concerted effort of ours.

(And that, my friend, is not greatness.)

Why Am I Writing This?

In the hope that each of us will pause and ask the simplest — and most uncomfortable — questions:

Am I a nation-killer? What becomes of a nation when everyone demands reform, yet exempts themselves from it?

From judges who issue spurious judicial opinions without a shred of embarrassment, to senators who fixed their own salaries at — get this —two million U.S. dollars per annum. (About 10 times as much as senators from a nation whose GDP IS 60 times higher!

Sixty times!

(I will concede thatit’s no longer $2 million but not through any effort on our part or theirs —only because the exchange rate collapsed from a disgraceful ₦150/$ to an unspeakable ₦1,500/$.)

They buy hundreds of bullet proof SUVs for themselves money they could improve…, where do you evenstart from!

From the driver who steals petrol money, to the nepotist in corporations and civil service who promotes or suppresses talent based on ethnicity or “fealty to one fraternal order or another?

From the lying pastor unfaithful to the Gospel, to the bribe-taking activistfor whom activism is merely another rung on the ladder to “prosperity”…

The same question must be asked — and answered honestly —if we are ever to change.

Thanks to your daily actions, Sir/Ma, despite the immense wealth bequeathed to us by God and by nature, our people remain destitute — among the poorest in human history.

We alone can slow this mad race toward the cliff edge, at the bottom of which lie the carcasses and relics of failed societies, nations, and empires.

Conclusion; Nigeria’s Collapse Is Moral, Not Economic

Poverty is not Nigeria’s root problem; moral collapse is. Nations poorer than Nigeria function better because they enforce standards and punish betrayal. Wealth cannot compensate for the absence of conscience, and natural resources cannot substitute for character.

#ReCultureNotReStructure: Economic Political or Social Reform without moral reform merely changes the scale of theft. Until corruption is seen for what it really is, the Culture of Death, and treated as the cancer it really is, no policy, budget, or investment will rescue this country. Economics follows ethics, not the other way around.

i rest my case
