You don’t storm the gates of hell by folding your arms.
You don’t storm the gates of hell by whispering,
“Let God be the judge of false teachers.”
That’s Pharisaic!
What you’re really saying is this:
“I’m saved—let God save those who are being deceived.”
Or worse:
“I’m saved—let them figure it out like I did,
and then they’ll be just like me.”
Excuses! Excuses! Excuses!
Some even say:
“How do I know? How can I judge?
Maybe they’re doing God’s work sincerely,
and I’m the one who’s mistaken.”
But listen—when you speak like that, remember the scripture:
“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will vomit you out of My mouth.”
(Revelation 3:16)
Hmmm… another 3:16!
Shall we blend John 3:16 and Revelation 3:16?
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
AND:
“Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will vomit you out of My mouth.”
Here we go:
“For God so loved the world… that He gave His only begotten Son…
that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
BUT!—because you are lukewarm… neither cold nor hot…
I will vomit you out of My mouth!”
When you excuse falsehood, you make Jesus a liar.
For the Lord has said:
“My yoke is easy. My burden is light. Come to Me, and I will give you rest.”
What litmus test could be simpler?
Do these false teachers give anyone rest?
The Lord’s Litmus Test
False teachers will:
Disguise themselves in sheep’s clothing.
Bear corrupt fruit—division, greed, immorality.
Cry “Lord, Lord” but disobey His word.
Exploit for money.
Deny Christ in doctrine.
Perform counterfeit signs.
Preach the broad road, not the narrow way.
And the fruit of their teaching?
Division.
Greed.
Arrogance.
Immorality.
Look not just at their words,
but at the outcome of their lives and ministries.
If you claim you cannot tell false teachers apart—
do you still read your Bible?
Count your fingers!
How many years have you been a Christian?
And you’re still lukewarm?
The Example of Saul of Tarsus
Think about Saul of Tarsus.
Did he fold his arms
when a new sect challenged the teachings of Second Temple Judaism?
Did he say, “Ah, let Jehovah deal with these Jews who follow Jesus”?
No!
Even in error, his zeal burned hot.
And when Christ touched him,
that same zeal burned for truth!
So if you sit content, saying,
“I’ll run my race; let others run theirs,”—
Paul’s pre-Christian zeal condemns you.
Paul’s Christian zeal judges you.
And his letter to the Galatians seals your fate.
Be in no doubt:
You are the wicked servant. Period.
Return to the Creeds
You do not know what you believe.
Perhaps you need to revisit the Apostles’ Creed.
Read it each morning when you wake up—preferably with your family—
until you can recite it.
And when you have mastered that,
learn the Nicene Creed.
Can you even recite the Creed?
No?
You’ve never heard of it?
The Call to Sainthood
Listen!
I am not mocking your Christianity.
The world needs your light.
The earth needs your flavor.
You already carry what you need
to be salt and light.
Ask the good Lord for help—
He gives freely, liberally, abundantly.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)
The Lord calls us to sainthood.
He knows the road will be rough.
He knows all who carry their cross
will face their own Via Dolorosa.
But just as Simon of Cyrene was sent
to help Jesus bear His cross at His weakest,
He will give you what you need
to endure the weight of your own cross.
Yes—sainthood! Nothing less.
That’s what He calls us to.
Some say only 144,000 will be saints.
Well then—be in that number!
And if you miss that number, be in the next!
Or the one after that!
Sainthood is not to be feared.
Yes, the way is hard.
Yes, the road is narrow.
But aren’t we blessed?
We have the Paraclete—the Holy Spirit—beside us.
Call on Him.
Invite Him again to remain at your side.
He will keep your eyes on the prize.
He will give you wisdom to see
that every deprivation becomes gain—
if only you stay the course.
So Rise Up!
Step away from the ranks of the wicked servant.
Join the company of good and faithful servants—
those who love God,
and love their neighbor.
Amen.
